Limpopo farmers asked to be on high alert for fires

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Limpopo has issued a fire danger warning for Sekhukhune, Waterberg and Capricorn Districts.

Small scale farmers have been advised to take precautions as the fire conditions could be worsened by strong winds.

The department’s spokesperson Moshopologo Mathotse says communities are urged not to start open fires.

“An extremely high hire fire danger warning expected in Limpopo has been issued for several parts of the farming communities. They are warned about the fire danger and advised not to set any open fire because it is extremely dangerous to do so. Should there be any open fire, it will be out of control due to high winds moving at high speed today.”
