Braamfischerville residents in Soweto protest on June 4, 2025, following Likhona Fose’s murder.
The family of a 14-year-old, Likhona Fose, who was brutally murdered in Durban Deep, Roodepoort, has described the teenager as an obedient child.
She went missing on Saturday and her mutilated body was discovered in the veld the following day.
An occult-related crimes unit has since been deployed to investigate.
Fose’s grandmother, Nozidelelo says, “We have really lost a good one with Likhona. It would be better if they killed me and not my child who was young. I just want to say the law must take its course, I want the perpetrators to be brought to book, even though it would not bring my child back.”
Special operation
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) and the South African Police Service (SAPS) have arranged a special operation to catch those responsible for the killing of the teenager.
This was heard during a family visit by the City of Johannesburg officials.
The former Chief of the JMPD, David Tembe, says they will prioritise police visibility in the area.
Tembe says, “We are going to do our best to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested. We need to bring lot of officers here, visibility is a way to go. We can’t keep on responding after a person has died, we need to be visible.”
Memorial service
Fose’s memorial service is expected to take place at the Nkone Maruping Primary School in Braamfischerville in Soweto this morning.
