Two men accused of the murder of alleged underworld boss Mark Lifman have appeared in the George Magistrate’s court in the Western Cape for their bail applications.
It is alleged that the accused shot and killed Lifman in the parking lot of the Garden Route Mall in November last year.
They were arrested near Uniondale a few hours later.
Their legal representative read out the accused’s affidavits, which stated they would plead not guilty to the charges and will not be a flight risk if granted bail.
The prosecution however says they have a strong case against the accused and are opposing bail.
Proceedings have been postponed until tomorrow for further arguments.
