Lebombo Border Post one of the problematic ports of entry: BMA

The Border Management Authority (BMA) says the Lebombo Border Post is one of the problematic ports of entry to process people into Mozambique.

The Lebombo Border Post in Komatipoort has been experiencing an influx of travelers most of them being Mozambicans who are heading back home for the holidays.

Traffic congestion continues on the N4 as motorists experience a traffic jam on both lanes.

BMA Commissioner, Mike Masiapato says the problem is that Mozambicans do not want to comply.

“But I think in terms of Lebombo this time last year and year before last, we continue to struggle and I think the biggest challenges we are dealing with is that Mozambicans are just deciding not to co-operate and this is the problem. So, effectively what we have to be doing is to make sure that we force them to comply, but because of the numbers we keep struggling. We do have the numbers … we are struggling, we do have the numbers on the N4, we do have some members of the police on the corridor, and they are trying their best, but otherwise what they do, they also drive on the oncoming traffic that’s why we are having the lock jam,” says Masiapato.
