Dirco Minister Ronald Lamola
International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola says he will continue to support peace efforts on the continent.
He was speaking to the SABC on the margins of the African Peace and Security Dialogue, hosted by the Thabo Mbeki Foundation in Magaliesburg, Gauteng.
He adds that all stakeholders, including civil society organisations, must also be given an opportunity to contribute to peace processes.
Lamola says the conflicts and the unconstitutional change of governments on the continent are a concern.
“African Union (AU), the East African Community and SADC, they have always been seized with the matter. We have resolved that there must be engagements with state and non-state actors which is a process that has been let by the initiative where [former] President [Olusegun] Obasanjo and other facilitators are seized with the matter. So that process is very important for sustainability of peace process.”
