KZN voters urged to register online ahead of by-elections

Ntombifuthi Masinga, an electoral officer at the KwaZulu-Natal Electoral Commission (IEC), says that eligible voters who were unable to take advantage of the voter registration campaign in two municipalities this weekend can still register or update their information on the commission’s online platforms.

The IEC has been registering voters in Ward 22 in the Abaqulusi Municipality, as well as Wards 07 and 20 in the Nongoma Municipality.

The campaign is ahead of by-elections scheduled to take place on the 18th, of next month. The wards became vacant after the resignation of councilors.

“Following the registration weekend, we gonna start preparing for special votes that are scheduled for the 17th of March and the application periods for special votes either for you to come and vote at the voting station on the 17th which is a day preceding the day of by-election date,” says Masinga.

She says they still encourage voters on the two affected municipalities to participate.
