KwaZulu-Natal authorities have urged residents to be cautious as the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issues an alert for disruptive rains in various parts of the province.
The rains could lead to localised flooding. The current floods in various places in Durban and surrounding areas are causing major traffic delays.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says, “This includes large water puddles that are formed all over Durban with the hotspot being the M19, Umgeni Road under the N2 bridge. In other roads we have had reports by Riverside which has severe waterlogs and also the common spots of M13. But the M19 and M7 are extremely dangerous.”
ALS Paramedics urge caution on wet roads, check your vehicle, use headlights, and leave early. Monitor low-lying homes & evacuate early if needed. Stay alert to risks like collapsing sandbanks.

“We urge motorists to leave a bit earlier, please only proceed if you have to go to your destination. Ensure that your windscreen wipers are in good condition and your tyres please with your headlights on so you can see other road users. Keep safe following distance so you stop when you need to.”
