KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional affairs (CoGTA) Thulasizwe Buthelezi says no fatalities have been reported so far following the inclement weather conditions persisting in various parts of the province.
Disaster management teams across province are actively responding to numerous weather-related incidents as a cut-off low-pressure system continues to bring severe weather conditions to KZN and the Eastern Cape.
At least three people have died in the Eastern Cape.

Heavy snow, damaging winds and significant rainfall has lashed both provinces.
Several people have been left stranded. Buthelezi says they remain on high alert.
Buthelezi further adds that they are under pressure because the weather will be quite inclement for a prolonged period.
The MEC has requested motorists to stay off the road and urged those who will be on the road to be cautious as road conditions remain dangerous.
“Disaster management teams are on the ground we activate last week Friday when the early warning system kicked in to say that there will be severe weather. We are glad that in areas throughout the province in the areas like Pietermaritzburg, eThekwini our disaster teams are on the ground and are responding to the incident which have been reported,” says Buthelezi.
