A crime scene were a shooting happen cordoned off.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli is expected to visit a crime scene where eight people were shot and killed in Umlazi, south of Durban.
Ntuli will be joined by the KZN Police Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
According to the police, the victims were inside a dwelling at the Zama informal settlement when an unknown number of suspects entered and opened fire, killing all of them at the scene.
Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says, “Police responded to reports of multiple murders and upon arrival at the scene, eight people, six men and two women, whose ages range between 22 and 40 years old, were found lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds.”
“Investigations into the possible motive of the killings are underway and police have launched a manhunt for the suspects. Police are appealing to anyone who might have information which can assist in the investigation to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop number, 08600 10111.” – Reporting by Samke Mtshali
