KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli says he’s not bothered by the Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) support for a motion of no confidence against him.
The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) last month tabled a motion of no confidence against Ntuli, citing allegations of financial mismanagement and corruption.
The vote on the motion is scheduled to take place on Monday next week at the provincial legislature in Pietermaritzburg.
Earlier this week, the EFF said it would support the motion, while the MKP continues to seek support from other political parties.
Ntuli says the two parties have never expressed confidence in him as the leader of the government of provincial unity (GPU).
“The MK never supported the GPU, including the EFF. When this government was established, they voted together against the establishment of the GPU. So they are not new voices in terms of saying they do not support the premier or rather the GPU or the executive. But what is important, we are not worried about the issue of the motion of no confidence because they’ve never said they have confidence. So it’s not a new thing.”
