KZN Hawks head Lesetja Senona to testify at Madlanga Commission

KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Major-General Lesetja Senona is expected to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria on Tuesday.

He is accused of having strong ties to alleged criminal kingpin Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala.

Senona is expected to answer questions on allegations that he helped Matlala to secure a R360 million SAPS tender.

Evidence before the Madlanga Commission has alleged that General Senona and the attempted murder accused, Matlala, had a close relationship.

This is according to one of the Commission’s witnesses, Witness X, who testified remotely through an intermediary in October last year.

WhatsApp messages presented by Witness X revealed a discussion between the pair about a purchase of property by Matlala for Senona’s son.

Witness X also alleged that Matlala sent General Senona three different ID numbers allegedly belonging to President Cyril Ramaphosa in a document titled ‘Memo Biz Traces’.
