Law enforcement operations and festive season road safety activation along the Mooi River Toll Plaza on the N3
Traffic volumes on the N3 in KwaZulu-Natal are expected to pick up from this weekend. The N3 Toll Concession says it’s bracing for higher than usual traffic, as the province prepares to welcome more than a million holidaymakers this festive season.
Deputy Transport Minister Mkhuleko Hlengwa is leading a multi-disciplinary operation at the Mooi River toll plaza.

He says 800 traffic officers will be deployed nationwide to enforce road rules and improve safety.
Hlengwa has also raised concerns about the conduct of truck drivers between Mooi River and Durban.
He says a meeting with trucking representatives is being planned to address the issue.
“The top 20 priority routes that we have identified throughout the country are – that we have a trucking problem on this road. The drivers of trucks are reckless and irresponsible in how they navigate the traffic, in how they navigate the flow of movement towards Durban and coming up. We will be engaging with the Trucking Association next week so that we can have joint messaging and joint interactions with the truck drivers. They are making our job fundamentally very, very difficult.”
