Authorities in KwaZulu-Natal say 95 motorists have been arrested for contravening various traffic laws including drunk driving. The arrests were made during multi-disciplinary roadblocks on Saturday night.
The provincial Department of Transport says among those arrested are three police officers and a service provider with government tenders worth billions.

Department Spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya says in Stanger, 39 motorists were arrested, including two policemen, one from Gauteng and his two female passengers. 37 other males were also arrested. In Newcastle, 36 motorists were arrested. These include one Senior Municipal Official, three educators and one nurse. In Port Shepstone, 20 motorists were arrested. These includes a motorist from Gauteng who is also a service provider for government tenders worth billions. Also, the arrest of a motorist who is a service provider who drove recklessly towards oncoming traffic, skipped four red robots, fled from RTI officers, and hid inside a house is a clear indication that we are determined to restore law and order.”
