KZN Agriculture Dept official among two arrested for tractor theft

The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Thembeni kaMadlopha-Mthethwa, has commended the arrest of two suspects, including a department official, for stealing tractors from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The official, based at Inkosi Owen Sithole College of Agriculture, formerly Cedara, allegedly coordinated the theft of two tractors from the Mbonambi area.

Ms. Thembeni kaMadlopha-Mthethwa elaborates, “Fortunately, the district director was able to spot the other tractor, but it had already been stolen. When we contacted the police, they discovered that one of the two suspects was an official from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. I’m warning them because I’ve already been warning them that whenever I catch someone engaging in criminal activities within the department, I will not tolerate that.”
