Policeman in courtroom
KwaZulu-Natal police have warned residents of KwaMashu in northern Durban against criminals impersonating officers.
This follows incidents in which criminals used the same modus operandi to commit robberies in homes.
In a recent case, men posing as police officers robbed a 36-year-old woman of cellphones and cash in her home in J-Section.
Provincial police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo has this advice for residents.
“Police in KwaMashu are pleading with community members to be aware of criminals who are impersonating police officers. This emanates from a number of house robbery cases which were reported at the station where a similar modus operandi was used by what is believed to be the same syndicate operating. Meanwhile, the information received by police indicates two or four males will enter premises as police who are looking for firearms.”
