Clermont and KwaDabeka residents near Pinetown have been left stranded following a taxi shutdown by the Clermont and KwaDabeka Taxi Association.
The association issued a statement on Monday saying that the taxis will not be operational on Tuesday.
The association’s secretary, Sibusiso Khanyezi, says that the shutdown is because 25 of their minibus-taxis were impounded by authorities last Friday for allegedly not having operating permits.
This was while the taxi association and the KwaZulu-Natal E-hailing Council were meeting to resolve tensions following the assault of two e-hailing drivers.

Khanyezi says the impounding of their vehicles is unfair, as some of them did have permits.
He says it cost them over R150 000 to get the vehicles out of the pound.
