City of Johannesburg Transport MMC Kenny Kunene has called on the government to deploy a Taxi Killings Task Team following the death of taxi boss Molefe Moekeletsi.
He was the chairperson of the Alexandra, Randburg, Midrand and Sandton Association (ARMSTA).
Kunene was speaking at Moekeletsi’s funeral in Midrand, north of Johannesburg.
Moekeletsi was shot and killed in Marlboro last week, while on his way to work.
Kunene says taxi killings should now be prioritised.
“Politicians are killing each other, yet there’s a Political Task Team. So, it is time, acting minister and president, that a Taxi Killing Task Team must be formed. It is time that a proper, well-trained team investigate killings of taxi bosses,” says Kunene.
