Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, says she’s hopeful that the Madlanga Commission will yield positive results in rooting out corruption in South Africa’s justice system.
Kubayi was speaking during a media roundtable by the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster and Brand South Africa at the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg.
She voiced her strong support for the commission.

Kubayi highlighted the importance of public participation in the commission’s work.
“If you are called upon to assist that commission, you have an obligation as a South African to assist that commission. Killings across of men and women who work for this justice cluster … it’s actually a threat to access to justice. It’s a threat to our democracy. And that’s why we must protect them, not only as government, but all of us as South Africans, because when I kill an ordinary police officer next to the police station, who do I expect to find tomorrow when I want to report a case? Because all of us, any day, can become victims of crime,” says Kubayi.
