KT Molefe’s legal team accuse state of relying on speculation

The legal defense in the case against Katiso ‘KT’ Molefe says the state is drawing influence from a base of speculation. This was heard during his bail appeal at the High Court in Johannesburg on Thursday.

This comes after Molefe was denied bail by the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court in August.

He is facing multiple charges, including an alleged murder of prominent music producer Oupa Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody, in 2022.

His lawyer, Michael Hellens, says the state has not demonstrated a strong case.

“If the state was serious with its opposition of the bail application, it should have provided rebutting evidence. There’s a lack of content in the answering (affidavit) and even in the supplementary (affidavit). The state have not demonstrated a strong case,” says Hellens.
