Koa Academy launches online youth entrepreneurship

The Koa Academy has launched a free five-week online challenge to promote a culture of entrepreneurship in South Africa for youth aged between nine to 16 years.

Economist Dawie Roodt and Durban musician Majozi will host this entrepreneurship challenge through the academy.

Children from around the country are being encouraged to take part in the challenge, with registration closing on May 1.

Koa Academy Principal Mark Anderson says it will equip young learners with the skills needed to create and sustain successful businesses.

Anderson says, “One of the things we are aware of in traditional education is a lot of students feel  a disconnect about what they see in the textbook and what they see in the real world around them.”

He says, “The entrepreneurship challenge is designed in a way to not just teach information and knowledge, but  giving students an opportunity to practice that, reflect on them and prepares students to move past the fear of failure and see this as a level to grow opportunity.”
