SCA hears Ramaphosa’s appeal on Zulu King Misuzulu’s recognition.
Prince Mbonisi Bekithema’s lawyer has argued before the Supreme Court of Appeal that the meeting that led to the identification of King Misuzulu KaZwelithi as the successor was frivolous.
Senior Counsel Thabani Masuku says the role of senior members of the Zulu Royal house was subverted and that there are minutes of a meeting that can prove that.
Masuku argued that the meeting was later turned into a meeting for identification.
He contends that had President Cyril Ramaphosa followed proper processes in appointing an investigating committee, court battles could have been avoided.

Masuku further mentions that the report chronicles and records different views of members of the royal family regarding as to why the identification was incorrect.
“The panel report itself. So, we submit that it can never be suggested that the issues raised, which were before the president, because most of these matters come from the rule 53 record, where matters that could be dismissed as frivolous or do not fit within the 84 duties of the President,” says Masuku.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has reiterated that he acted consistently with the law and customary law when he recognised King Misuzulu as the new king. The King has also argued that the identification process according to the customary law. #sabcnews #sabcfs pic.twitter.com/EcDa1AK8gJ
