The advocate representing AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has handed their papers in the Pietermaritzburg High Court to oppose an application for an interdict against him taking another wife.
Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela Zulu is asking the court to halt the king’s customary marriage to Nomzamo Myeni, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday.
The king’s Advocate Johnny Klopper told Judge Bongani Mngadi that the application was served on them while the king was in seclusion for the First Fruits ceremony.
Standing the matter down to read the papers, Judge Mngadi asked Advocate Mandla Luthuli, for the queen, why he was not given the papers earlier.
“I’m surprised. When did you intend to hand over those documents to me,” asked Judge Mngadi.
Luthuli replied, “I was going to hand over after finish to address on urgency My Lord. It was just an oversight”
However, Judge Mngadi says that the court must be given an opportunity to peruse all the filed documents before it’s addressed by the parties.
Luthuli concluded that it was oversight on his part and that he got carried away with the urgency matter.
