Khanyile tells court that Zuma-Sambudla was a colleague and friend

Unrest instigator accused Bonginkosi Khanyile has told the Durban regional court that it wasn’t unusual for him to send messages to Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, the daughter of former president Jacob Zuma.

Khanyile is charged with incitement to violence and also for contravening COVID-19 regulations.

He was being cross-examined about messages and videos he shared with Zuma-Sambudla on the 10th of July 2021, a day after the unrest broke out in the province.

Khanyile told the court that Zuma-Sambudla was a colleague, friend and comrade and that they had often discussed events in South Africa.

Zuma-Sambudla herself is facing charges at the Durban High Court of incitement to commit terrorism
