To commemorate the life of Ahmed Kathrada, ideals and values, the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation is hosting a public event today under the theme, “Achieving non-racialism, what must be done?”.
Today marks the eighth anniversary of the renowned anti-apartheid activist who passed away at the age of 87.
Kathrada was well-known for his stance against a non-racial society among other things.
Executive Director of the Foundation, Neeshan Balton, says several political party representatives and civil society organisations have been invited to share their views on how to tackle the issue of racism.
He says the event is open to anybody.
“The memory of Kathrada for us is important and we are happy that on Saturday the 29th we would host a dialogue with Mac Maharaj and young people at Constitutional Hill and that is at 2pm,” says Balton.
Political figures invited to speak at the event include ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula, the IFP’s Bonginkosi Dhlamini and Vuyiswa Ramokgopa from RISE Mzansi.
