Julius Malema’s pre-sentencing proceedings moved to bigger court room

The pre-sentencing proceedings for Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema have been moved to a bigger courtroom due to capacity challenges at the East London Regional Court.

Judge Twanette Olivier is expected to preside over pre-sentencing proceedings on Friday.

Scores of EFF supporters are also outside the court showing support for their leader.

Malema has been convicted of discharging a firearm during the party’s fifth anniversary celebrations held in Mdantsane back in 2018.

His conviction includes the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, discharging a firearm in a built-up area and reckless endangerment.
