Judgment in bail application of accused teen in Lusanda Mathabela murder expected Friday

One of the two teenagers accused of killing the 19-year-old Lusanda Mathabela in Mataffin outside Mbombela, Mpumalanga, has appeared at the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court for his bail application.

Lungelo Sithole and co-accused Katlego Mokoena were arrested after the killing of Mathabela at her home in Mataffin last year.

In the previous court appearances, Sithole denied being involved in the murder and revealed that he intended to plead not guilty.

On Monday, the state and the defence were submitting their arguments.

The state argued that there is strong evidence against the accused as he was arrested in the crime scene and that the accused person must be kept in custody until the matter is finalised.

The defence still stands that the accused Lungelo Sithole must be granted bail as he has mentioned before that he intends not to plead guilty in this case and that he has a second location outside the province and there won’t be public disorder if his granted bail.

The judgment regarding this bail application will be on Friday.
