The 7 girl learners appeared in court.
The case against 11 people accused in the R260 million SASSA fraud scandal has been rolled over to Thursday for final judgment on their bail applications.
The accused appeared before the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
They are alleged to have siphoned off social relief payments through a coordinated network of fraudulent transactions.
During proceedings, defense attorneys submitted affidavits in support of bail, citing the negative impact of detention on their clients’ families particularly their children.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of SASSA employees.
On Tuesday this week, the court heard that some of the 11 accused allegedly intimidated and threatened members of the investigating team.
Magistrate Maggie van der Merwe, presiding over the case, instructed the defense to file their final submissions following the state’s evidence in the previous court appearances. The judgement is expected to be handed over on Thursday.
