Justice Sisi Khampepe chairs the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) Cases Inquiry on November 10, 2025.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Cases Inquiry Chairperson Justice Sisi Khampepe is expected to hand down judgment on Friday on whether Adv Ishmael Semenya will continue as the Commission’s Chief Evidence leader.
On Wednesday, the inquiry heard oral arguments from the lawyers of several families of victims of apartheid-era violence, the National Prosecutions Authority (NPA) and the Justice and Constitutional Development Department, who applied for Semenya to stand down.
They have asserted that he is conflicted by consulting work he has done for the two state institutions in the past.
The inquiry will also hear other objections regarding the manner in which the investigation will proceed.
