Judge in Meyiwa trial approves dental check for accused number 3

Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng has granted the defence’s request for accused number three in the Senzo Meyiwa case to go for a dental examination.

Defence lawyer, Charles Mnisi had applied to the court for Mthobisi Mncube to go for the dental examination in order to determine if he had a gold tooth in 2014 when Meyiwa was murdered.

The murder trial had been postponed until Thursday for the state to give feedback on quotations of private dental surgeon.

Judge Mokgoatlheng says advocate Mnisi has provided compelling reasons for Mncube to be examined.

“The order I grant, the court finds that accused number three’s counsel has given compelling reasons in this court that there will be a denial of the accused rights. So, accused number three should go consult with a dental practitioner. It has to be his own choice,” says Judge Mokgoatlheng.
