Kelly Smith’s mother, Amanda Daniels Smith, says she still wants answers from her regarding the whereabouts of Joshlin Smith.

Smith, Jacquen Appollis and Steveno Van Rhyn were convicted of kidnapping and human trafficking in connection with the disappearance of the little girl at Saldanha Bay in February last year.

Arguments in mitigation and aggravation of sentence are expected to be heard from Friday next week.

Amanda Smith spoke to the media outside court.

“She must tell me where grandchild is, that’s all. I don’t want to talk to anybody anymore. I am angry because nobody knows if she still alive, Joshlin is still alive. I am angry and I don’t want to see her (Kelly),” says Amanda.

Joshlin Smith Trial | Mother of Kelly Smith still seeks answers on missing after convictions:

Earlier Judge Nathan Erasmus found Kelly Smith and her co-accused guilty of kidnapping and trafficking of Smith’s daughter.

The Western Cape High Court sitting at Saldhana found that the state proved beyond reasonable doubt that Smith, her boyfriend, Jacquen Appollis and their friend Steveno van Rhyn sold the then six -year-old girl for the purposes of exploitation.

Justice Nathan Erasmus handed down the judgement.

“For the reasons that I have stated, I am of the view that the state succeeded in proving the guilt of accused No.: 1 Mr Appollis, Mr Van Rhyn and Ms Smith on the main count, in count one and in count two,” said Erasmus.
