Joshlin Smith was reported missing from her home in Saldanha Bay in February 2024.
The trial of seven-year-old Joshlin Smith‘s disappearance is expected to continue today in the Western Cape High Court sitting in Saldanha Bay.
The child’s mother, Kelly Smith, and two co-accused face charges of kidnapping and trafficking.
Last week, Judge Nathan Erasmus ruled that statements of the accused, Jacquen Appollis and Steveno van Rhyn, were admissible as evidence.
Appollis and Van Rhyn gave their statements between March 4 and 5 last year. They, however, contend that their statements were given under duress and that they were tortured by police into making the so-called confessions.,
Joshlin disappeared from her home in the Middlepos informal settlement in February last year and has not yet been found.
