The South African Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan and two co-accused have been granted R20 000 bail each by the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.
Jordaan, SAFA CFO Gronie Hluyo and Trevor Neethling appeared in the court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, east of Johannesburg, after being arrested earlier on Wednesday.
They are facing charges of fraud and theft amounting to R1,3 million. Jordaan allegedly used the SAFA funds to appoint a communications company, to improve his image after former African National Congress (ANC) member of Parliament Jennifer Ferguson accused him of rape.
The arrests follow an intensive investigation by the Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit into the allegations.
