Joburg Water to leave Phumla Mqashi tap dry

Johannesburg Water says they will not reconnect illegal water connections in the Phumla Mqashi informal settlement, in Lenasia South.

This is after the water utility disconnected the illegal water in the area on 12 November.

The water utility says their High-Level Reservoir has experienced an increase in water levels following an intervention to improve the distribution of water.

“This operation was part of the entity’s ongoing efforts to address a substantial challenges post by unauthorised connections to the city’s water network, which are also a major contributor to water loses. Johannesburg Water restored water tank services in the area to assist in maintaining basic services for the community,” says Johannesburg Water Spokesperson, Nombuso Shabalala.
