A tap that has run dry.
Johannesburg Water says it will intensify its programme to disconnect those connected to their network illegally.
This in an attempt to reduce the high rate of illegal water connections to the City’s water network.
The water utility says they will disconnect in informal settlements across the City where a huge water loss has been recorded.
Johannesburg Water Spokesperson, Nombuso Tshabalala says, “While the entity will ensure that water supply is not interrupted and that water tankers are deployed and refilled regularly, residents in informal settlements are urged to take care of water tanks to help maintain basic services for the community. If there are no water tankers in various areas in informal settlements, residents are encouraged to report the matter to the award counsellor or the nearest Johannesburg Water depot.”
