Water tankers.
Johannesburg Water has warned residents not to buy water from illegal vendors during supply disruptions.
The utility says tanker water is supplied free of charge both during planned and unplanned disruptions.
It has warned that anyone caught selling tanker water is breaking the law and should be reported to law enforcement.
Johannesburg Water’s Nolwazi Dhlamini says, “Water supplied from tankers is only for community consumption. This includes public institutions such as schools, old age homes, clinics and critical institutions and is supplied for free during planned and unplanned water disruptions.”
“It is not meant to be supplied for businesses, car washes and restaurants. Residents are urged not to purchase water from anyone claiming to sell it as it goes against Johannesburg Water’s commitment to providing a free, alternative supply of water during planned and unplanned water distribution,” adds Dhlamini.
