Joburg Progressive Caucus upbeat ahead Morero no-confidence motion

The Johannesburg Progressive Caucus is confident that a vote of no confidence against Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero will not succeed.

The six small parties says that the numbers to retain Morero are on their side.

The African National Congress (ANC)-lead council comprises 270 seats with the motion being led by the Al Jamah Party.

Johannesburg Council Speaker Margret Arnold says,”It can go anyway, motions can go anyway. It decides on how people wake up and what happens. It can go anyway, but I can tell you, even though those five people, those five votes will not vote with us, we will still, as a government of local unity, and according to what the PMC will give us, we will still be able to have the vote because we are 144, as we are now. If you take off that five, we are 139.”
