Joburg motorists urged to be caution amid heavy rain

The Johannesburg Emergency Services (EMS) has called on motorists to exercise caution as some roads cannot be easily accessed due to fallen trees and debris.

Some low-lying bridges are also submerged. Rain has persisted in most parts of Gauteng.

EMS Spokesperson Obed Mulaudzi says their disaster teams will remain on alert.

“And of course, quite importantly, we’ve got our specialised team which responds to water-related emergencies. They have been on standby since the weekend up until now. So, from our side, we may be able to respond to any emergency. We call on our residents who might be facing any life-threatening situations to call our Command and Control Centre on 011 375 5911 for any life-threatening emergencies.”
