Johannesburg Mayor, Dada Morero.
Johannesburg Mayor, Dada Morero, says significant progress has been made in raising revenue to address the city’s service delivery challenges, which include water supply, infrastructure, and road maintenance.
The city is facing criticism over its preparedness to host the G20 Summit later this year.
Morero says they have raised enough funds for the replacement of pipelines programme.
He says they will also be refurbishing 25 water reservoirs that are currently in a bad state.
“I think the next month or so, we will be completing the Brixton reservoir and tower which will then help us in terms of the water issue. We do experience a lot of issues around traffic signals and potholes. Our financial year, we have put sufficient money and we have started on the war against potholes and we are almost everywhere addressing potholes, plus dealing with what we call resurfacing of roads,” he says.
