Joburg Mayor Dada Morero says that the City is ready to host the upcoming G20 summit that is scheduled to take place later this year.
World leaders will descend onto South Africa in November in the first ever G20 summit in South Africa and the continent.
The G20 summit comes at a time where the City of Johannesburg has been battling infrastructural challenges that have had a negative impact on service delivery.
Despite the challenges faced by the Metro, Morero says that the City of Joburg is more than ready to host any top international events
“We are confident. We have already hosted almost four meetings. The foreign ministers were in Nasrec. There were a bit of challenges that we have corrected. There were ministers of health in Melrose, there were ministers of finance, and I think the last one was the ministers of local government. So, we have already hosted about four G20 meetings, and of course, the summit is the last one, which will be hosted in November.”
