Joburg cleanup campaign to be maintained even after G20 Summit: JMPD

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) says the current campaign to clean up the inner city will be maintained even after the G20 leaders’ Summit.

Among others, the campaign aims to revitalise the inner city and enforce municipal bylaws.

JMPD Acting Chief Eldred Fortein says cleaning the city will lead to a safer environment.

Fortein was speaking at public safety media briefing in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

“I made a promise to the residents of the City of Johannesburg and to the political leadership within the city that I will sustain (this) and (that’s what) I intend to. This falls directly in my capacity as the director of bylaws,” says Fortein.
