The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) is warning residents and commuters to plan ahead for Saturday’s African Bank Soweto Marathon, as several roads will be affected.
The marathon will feature 42km, 21km, and 10km distances.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says officers will be on the ground to manage traffic during the following road closures.
Soweto Marathon Non-Profit Company spokesperson Jabu Mbuli has insisted that the iconic People’s Race will proceed on Saturday, regardless of the ongoing dispute with the Soweto Marathon Trust.
