FILE | Road closed sign following flooding.
The Johannesburg Metro Police has urged motorists to use alternative routes due to heavy traffic congestion on the N12 eastbound in Protea Industrial Park, south of Johannesburg.
JMPD Spokesperson Xolani Fihla says the congestion is caused by flooding following extreme rainfall in the area.
He has further advised motorists to drive with caution.
“Motorists are advised to be aware of flooding on N12 eastbound just after the Sasol garage, near Abu Baker Asvat Drive in Protea Industrial Park. This is causing heavy delays. Motorists are further urged to drive with caution due to the inclement weather conditions, reduce your vehicle speed, keep a safe following distance and avoid extremely flooded roads and low-lying bridges and exercise patience in areas of high traffic volume, like on the N12 in Protea Industrial Park.”
