Residents of the Jeffsville informal settlement in Attridgeville, west of Pretoria, say they are tired of violent crime in their area. This follows the fatal shooting of five men on Wednesday. They include three Zimbabweans who were sitting outside a tuck shop.
Police suspect extortion as the cause of the shooting.
Last month twelve people were shot dead at a nearby shebeen.

“We are so heartbroken about the situation that’s happening here. This is so painful because a few days ago, there was a situation at the hostel. People were killed there. So what we can do as church leaders and civil groups is come together. From prayer sessions and prayer. Because what’s happening here is bad for the young kids. Just imagine hearing some gunshots,” says Community leader Samuel Masilela.
