Jane Sithole re-elected unopposed as Mpumalanga DA leader

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Mpumalanga has re-elected Jane Sithole as provincial leader, and Bosman Grobler as the chairperson unopposed during an elective conference underway in Sabie.

The party says it’s focusing on growing support in the province, starting from different wards ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

The provincial congress is attended by the federal chairperson Ivan Meyer and the outgoing leader, John Steenhuisen.

Sithole says her re-election to the leadership position shows confidence and renewal of the mandate by party members.

“So its puts more accountability and more responsibility on you but its always something I receive with a grateful heart because it doesn’t happen everyday. Because if you compare the number of votes the DA got in the previous elections, now you can see the growth is clear…I think we are the only party that’s showing growth.”

Meanwhile, Steenhuisen says the DA in Mpumalanga has achieved growth through the unity displayed by the provincial leadership.

He says their target ahead of this local government elections is to win the hearts of the people of Mpumalanga.

“I think the local government elections are a huge opportunity to give us to grow even further. Many citizens here are really tired of not having water from their taps and electricity in their homes. People are tired of poor service and they want change, they demand change, and best way to get the change is by voting for it, like the people of Umgeni in Kwazulu-Natal, people of Midvaal, people in Cape Town and other places voted for change and they got change…So, people want service delivery.”
