All about the horses…an unusual take on Hollywoodbets Durban July theme of Marvels of Mzansi, July 5, 2025.
The Greyville Racecourse in Durban is a hive of activity ahead of the Hollywoodbets Durban July. Over 50 000 spectators are expected to attend Africa’s foremost horse racing and social event.
Fashion designers are putting their dresses on display for photographers. The suits and dresses are a lively mix of colours and silhouettes, interpreting the theme of Marvels of Mzansi.
One designer says, “My inspiration comes from the Khoi San people from the Western Cape. I love the land, the sand.”
Another designer says, “We thought the Zebra is a beautiful animal, so we can be beautiful as white and black people as well and obviously we wanted to ensure that the Zebra is inspired by South Africa, so we used the South African flag.”
Meanwhile, some spectators say they’ve had fun dressing up for the event.
