The Italian duo of Luca Braidot and Simone Avondetto has won the second stage of the 2025 ABSA Cape Epic, cementing their second place in the overall classification.
The prologue winners of Africa’s Untamed Mountain Bike Race won the shortened third stage over 78 kilometres with 2 450 metres of elevation at Fairview in Paarl in a sprint finish.
They crossed the line a second ahead of overall race leaders, Nino Schurter and Filipo Vierro Colombo of Switzerland, completing the distance in three hours, 22 minutes and 44 seconds. The South Africans, Marco Joubert and Tristan Joubert were third across the finish line and are also third overall, nine minutes and 49 seconds behind the Swiss riders.
Today’s stage was shortened by 18 kilometres and started earlier due to the extreme heat expected in the Paarl Valley.
