Former police Sergeant Rachel Kutumela, her sister Anna Shokane and daughter Florah Shokane, appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court for a bail application on 24 July 2025.
A former Limpopo police sergeant and her two accomplices accused in the insurance-related killings will be tried in the High Court in Polokwane in October next year.
Rachel Kutumuela, her elder sister Anna Shokane and her daughter Flora Shokane, allegedly benefited from about R10 million in insurance claims.
They allegedly fraudulently took out life and funeral insurance policies for several victims and killed them.
The accused will be remanded in custody.
Meanwhile, a fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with the killings.
