Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus was forced to make a late change to his replacement bench for Saturday’s opening Rugby Championship test match against Australia in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Utility front-row forward, Jan-Hendrik Wessels was forced to withdraw after he picked up an injury at training on Wednesday.
He will be replaced by prop Boan Venter.
Venter made his test debut against Georgia last month, Bongi Mbonambi and Asenathi Ntlabakanye are the back-up front row forwards.
The encounter will mark Venter’s first Rugby Championship test match and his first against the Wallabies.
