Industry giants, family pay last Respects to Presley Chweneyagae

Actor Presley Chweneyagae’s funeral service is under way at the Akasia Community Hall in northern Pretoria. Industry colleagues, friends, and family have turned up in their numbers to pay their last respects to the actor who was affectionately known as ‘Cobrizi’ or ‘Mokwepa’.

He died at his home in Pretoria last week at the age of 40.

An earlier private prayer service was held at the home of the bereaved family.

Family and close friends formed part of the private prayer ceremony at Chweneyagae’s home at Teresa Park, north of Pretoria, before the procession proceeded to the Akasia Hall, where the funeral service is underway.

His rise to fame came at an early age when he played a leading role in the 2005, award-winning movie, Tsotsi. He also starred in multiple local television dramas such as Zama Zama, iNumber Number, Zama Zama and The River, where he was notorious for his hilarious role of Cobra.

Sport, Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Peace Mabe and North West Acting Premier Kenetswe Masenogi are some of the people expected to speak at the funeral.”
