In loco inspection ordered in Meyiwa murder case over assault claims

The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial will reconvene this Friday morning for a special sitting to address the inspection of the location in which one of the accused Muzi Sibiya was allegedly assaulted.

Sibiya’s lawyer, advocate Charles Mnisi, requested the in loco inspection.

Sibiya alleged that he was assaulted in various locations in Ekurhuleni following his arrest in May 2020.

He and four others are charged with the murder of the Bafana Bafana captain.

Meyiwa was gunned down in Vosloorus in eastern Johannesburg in October 2014.

The request has been granted despite the state’s concern around security issues, and they instead provided an aerial image of the area in question.

However, advocate Mnisi insisted that the inspection in loco is important to bring an end to the confusion.
